Course Information

The GWO Advanced Rescue Training (ART) course is designed for wind industry professionals responsible for carrying out high-risk rescue operations in wind turbine environments. Developed by the Global Wind Organisation, this advanced-level training prepares delegates to perform complex casualty rescues using specialised equipment and techniques that go beyond standard Working at Height procedures. The course consists of four modules, including both two-person and single-rescuer rescue scenarios, with certification valid for two years for standard modules. Successful completion ensures participants are capable of responding to emergencies in confined and elevated turbine areas with confidence and efficiency.

  • This course is ideal for wind industry personnel who may be required to perform advanced or complex rescue operations in turbine environments. It is particularly suited for technicians, team leads, or rescue coordinators working at height or in confined areas of wind turbines.

  • The training consists of four distinct modules:

    • Nacelle, Tower & Basement Rescue (valid for 2 years)

    • Hub, Spinner & Inside Blade Rescue (valid for 2 years)

    • Single Rescuer – Nacelle, Tower & Basement (no expiry)

    • Single Rescuer – Hub, Spinner & Inside Blade (no expiry)
      Each module focuses on specific areas of the wind turbine and introduces advanced rescue techniques using industry-standard equipment.

  • Delegates must hold valid GWO certifications in:

    • Working at Height

    • First Aid

    • Manual Handling
      Additionally, delegates must be medically fit and have a WINDA ID set up prior to attending the course.

  • The standard ART modules (Nacelle, Tower & Basement and Hub, Spinner & Inside Blade) are valid for two years. After this period, delegates must complete a refresher course to remain compliant. The single rescuer modules have no expiry but can be refreshed as needed.
