Course Information
The GWO Fire Awareness Training Course is a mandatory module for anyone working in the renewable and wind energy industry, both onshore and offshore. This Global Wind Organisation-accredited course equips participants with the theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience needed to respond effectively to fire-related emergencies. Delegates will learn how to identify fire hazards, follow emergency procedures, and operate fire suppression equipment in real-world wind turbine environments. Upon successful completion, delegates will receive a GWO Fire Awareness certificate, valid for two years.

Anyone working in the wind energy sector—whether on turbines, offshore platforms, or in support roles—is required to hold a valid GWO Fire Awareness certificate. This training is also part of the GWO Basic Safety Training (BST) package.

Delegates must:

Be 18 or over

Have a suitable level of English

Provide a valid WINDA ID

Complete a medical assessment form before participating in any practical activities

The certificate is valid for two years, after which delegates must complete a Refresher Course. Assessment includes practical exercises and a written multiple-choice test to ensure full understanding of fire safety procedures in wind turbine environments.
